道歌:修行頌

In Sanskrit: Carya-glti.

In Tibetan: A Song for the Practice

禮敬孺童圣文殊師利菩薩!

禮敬榮耀之金剛座!

Homage to the holy Manjusri, ever youthful!

Homage to the glorious Diamond Seat!

1.萬法之存在,

猶如鏡中之影像;

若細究法之本質,

便知實無內在自性之真實存在。

不了解萬法如鏡中影之本質,

哦,心則陷于癡暗之中,

但愿汝等勿生無明愚癡。

[1] Like a mirror-image, that is what existence is;

If its essence is examined, no inherent-nature exists.

Not understanding the mirror-likeness of essence,

Ah, O benighted mind, may you not create ignorance,

2. 在無染虛空或大寶之鏡中,

清晰明見自他諸有情;

如孩童誤為真實之映像為實有般,

為何繼續誤執自他之差別?

[2] In the mirror of a spotless sky or giant jewel,

One's self and all creatures are clearly seen;

Like a child mistaking its own reflection [for real],

Why keep mistaking what differentiates self and others?

3. 常纏縛于分別相之人,

猶如厭惡見自影之牲畜。

深知諸法如幻之瑜伽行者,

了知法性不住于此(分別);

穩固禪思于壇城中。

[3] Those who are always conceptualizing reflections

Are like cattle - shying from [their own] shadow.

The yogin who knows Thatness does not stay there;

He meditates steadily on the mandala's circle.

4. 壇城顯現以及從定中,

所得無上珍寶之大樂,

將令汝心永安穩。

無論何法細查生起之,

如何思維法性在其中?

[4] The highly cherished Great Bliss, shown and

Concentrated in that mandala, will steady you.

But whatever your way of examining and creating it is,

How do you think the nature of Thatness is in it?

5. 若無真實了知法性之本質,

如何成就無上大菩提?

所有分別概念之活動,

實則無有一物是實有,

此乃無上大樂之本質。

[5] How will the supreme Awakening be accomplished

As long as you do not really know the nature of Thatness?

The entire conceptual activity is without substance -

For such things are the basic nature of the Great Bliss.

6. 心勿關注世間八法,

讓你自身住于禪定界中,

若在此等持,汝心將會變得清凈;

將會完全避免所有之心執。

[6] With your mind indifferent to the Eight Worldly Concerns

And keeping yourself in the elements of concentration,

Your mind will become purified, if you persevere there;

And all mental preoccupation will be completely avoided.

7. 種種分別所生之任何法,

非萬法最高最凈之體性。

所有分別執實無存在;

此即最高之真如正法。

[7] Any reality you create with your various concepts,

Is not the highest and purest nature of things.

The entire conceptual-preoccupation has no existence;

And that is the highest true reality of Suchness.

8. 真如禪定如燃燒之大火,

燃盡一切煩惱殘梗;

當你完全了知此世間,

進而諸有情眾如虛空化為空。

[8] The concentration of Thusness is a great burning fire

Which consumes the entire stubble of the afflictions;

And when you have completely understood this world,

Then all creatures become [empty] as the sky.

9. 切勿誤解如虛空般之空性有情之本性;

勿由黑暗分別盲入暗。

世間如過去、未來是同一性;

無有過去、現在、未來之差別。

[9] Mistake not: the [empty] sky-like nature of creatures;

Be not blinded into darkness by murky conceptualizing.

What the world was like before, even afterwards is the same;

A difference of past, present or future does not exist.

10. 以模糊不清之分別概念認識萬法,

猶如在模糊的視覺下看空中一縷發絲。

分別概念之本性亦如天空之空性,

故竭盡全力修持每一個觀察法吧。

[10] Seeing a hair in the air because of blurred vision,

Is no different from seeing the world with blurred concepts.

The nature of concepts is like the [empty] nature of sky,

[So] cultivate every single kind of investigation [you can].

11. 諦聽我說!

當謹慎,保護汝之戒行寶,

將一切未成熟之罪視為可怕賊;

從愚癡之生命長夜睡眠中而起

諦聽我說!當謹慎,勿松懈。當謹慎!

[11] Hear me! Keep watch, protect the jewel of your Conduct,

By seeing the maturing of sin as a fearsome thief;

Rise from life's long night sleep of delusion,

Hear me, O mind, do not allow inattention. Keep watch!

12. 就如無日便無陽光,

若無戒行寶,何得禪定?

如賊入臥室,

諦聽我說!(若不慎防惡業),

你的戒行之寶必定會被偷去!

[12] Just as there can be no daylight if there be no sun;

Where is there meditation without the jewel of Conduct?

With the thief entering the chamber of your sleep,

Hear me, your treasure of Conduct is surely being stolen!

13. 雖暫亦勿執惡業,

謹慎(持戒)直至法性之日光照耀;

法性明日所照之境,

哦,在此如寶之生中,何等快樂!

[13] Not clinging to evil, however briefly,

Keep watch until the sun of Thatness shines;

For insofar as the bright sun of Thatness shines,

Ah, what joy there is in living this jewel-like life.

14. 無論如何皆為人有我,

此即汝等一切諸眾生;

勿要損自思維自他別。

汝須制服內在此邪思;

須品嘗甘露法雨,

以馴內心之毒蛇。

[14] Whatever is self, that is what all you creatures are;

Do not harm yourself thinking you're different from others.

You must conquer the inner evil of (such) thinking;

That poisonous snake must be quieted with a taste of nectar.

15. 此等內邪猶如多頭之毒蛇:

當汝懂得如何了知不同諸有情,

品嘗真如之大甘露--

即能住于寂心之殊勝瑜伽境。

[15] (This) inner evil is like a many-headed viper:

When you know how to understand all the various creatures,

With the [taste of the great nectar of Thatness] -

Therein lies great yoga's state of tranquil mind.

16. 恒久品嘗殊勝甘露之甜美,

行者即能了知大樂之殊勝;

裸身火祭祀行者婆羅門,

僅由家庭或者出生,

非能決定其是否為瑜珈修行者。

[16] Constantly tasting the sweetness of this great nectar,

One will know the excellent transcendance of Great Bliss;

One is not brahmin from naked fire-sacrificing, and

One is not a yogin [just] because of family or birth.

17. 如佛之所言,

任何身語意清凈人,

乃為真正婆羅門。

必斷十不善;

必具十善力。

[17] (No,) whoever is pure in body, speech, and mind,

That is the (true) brahmin, the Buddhas have said.

All the ten vices must be renounced;

The tenfold virtues' strengths must be embraced.

18. 若人縱使出身低卑,

其在世時,

使之行為如理如法。

使之領受忍辱之理以制服嗔恚,

使之舍棄一切世間樂貪欲。

[18] And although one be born of lower caste,

Let him never misbehave as long as he lives.

Let him conquer anger by seizing the truth of patience;

Let him give up all desire for this world's pleasure.

19. 永浴于善業之湖中,

遠離妄想,恐懼和貪欲之罪。

數數作白骨觀,

其人不感其白骨長流不凈之陰森嗎?

[19] Ever bathe in the lake of happy virtue,

And do not imagine illusion, fear, and sins of lust.

Mounting again and again the skeleton-ride,

Does one not feel darkness ever dripping impurity?

20. 遠離貪欲、妄想以及通向惡趣的道路;

謹記,須洗盡自身污垢;

虔信具德上師甘泉般的教言;

由此洗凈由大妄想所玷污的衣裳。

[20] Abandon desire and illusion, the paths to evil destiny;

O mind, you must bathe away your own dirt;

Reverently trusting in a true guru's fountain;

Therein washing the garment stained by the great illusion.

21. 真實上師之教言,

猶如清水且純凈;

領受教言前,

須先沐浴凈自身,

哦,謹記!

善了知和看清自身,

你將凈化妄想所生之大不凈。

[21] For the very guru-instruction is water, pure;

And taking that, you must learn to bathe yourself;

O mind, understand and see yourself well and

You will cleanse the great impurity of illusion.

22.  何人不聽圣者真實語,

如同步入森林大火或洪水中;

既然生命必將繼續到來世,

圣人教授之語當諦聽。

[22] Whoever listens not to the Sage's word of truth

Is like a man who walks in a forest fire or flood;

Since life surely continues on to the future world,

The words of the Sage's teaching are what you must hear.

23. 已聞此教言,應將其融入生活中;

除其之外,誰能阻擋你墮入惡趣呢?

通過聽聞教言和思維其義,

行者能輕易獲得增上生乃至解脫。

[23] Having heard his Teaching, do not live without it;

For who else can hold you back from an Avici (hell) destiny?

By hearing the Teaching, contemplating all by its meaning,

One easily gains the higher births and liberation.

24. 此教言是愚癡黑暗中的一盞明燈,

亦是載你渡過生死大海之乘船。

[24] This Teaching is the lamp for the darkness of illusion;

It is the ship that carries you across life's ocean.

由大阿阇黎 燃燈吉祥智編撰《道歌:修行頌》至此完結。由大班智達金剛手和譯僧 卻季喜饒(Chos-kyi shes-rab)翻譯和修訂。

Here ends the Song for the Practice composed by the great

Acarya Sri Dlpamkara-jnana. It was translated, revised, and

published by the Pandita Vajrapani and the translator-monk,

Chos-kyi shes-rab.
